Plumage

Plumage is a set of tools for working with feathers in Houdini +20, which expands and improves the native feather system in both grooming and CFX (simulation).

Plumage includes its own feather modeling and customization tools, a noise system, look development, detangle, layer-based workflows, and much more.

If you’re interested in learning more about the development and testing of these tools, you can follow me on my Instagram account dedicated exclusively to feathers : my.feathers.hou

CurlyGen

This tool is inspired by the paper “Curly-Cue: Geometric Methods for Highly Coiled Hair” by Haomiao Wu1, Alvin Shi, A.M. Darke, and Theodore Kim, from Yale University and the University of California, Santa Cruz, Proceedings of SIGGRAPH ASIA 2024

I have also contributed new ideas that give the artist more control: clumps, attribute control, the scatter system, etc. The core of the system is Vex.

Music by Polygonia.

Versioner

This tool allows you to save the states or parameter values of multiple nodes, all in a single package called a Preset.

With Versioner, you can create a history of node groups without having to save multiple scenes or duplicate nodes. This way, you’ll never lose node values again and can always revert to previous states saved within this tool.

You can also create node libraries, camera positions, simulation setups, modeling, shaders… any node group can be managed through Versioner!

Versioner works in real time, storing all this information in files separate from the Houdini scenes. If Houdini crashes, you can recover all your versions.

You can also share the history or libraries of versions and presets you create between different Houdini projects.
